Review: Crave by Tracy Wolff, Author: Tracy Wolff (@tracywolffbooks on instagram), Publisher: Entangled Teen, Format: Physical Book, Rating: 5 stars (but oh so many more too!), Goodreads synopsis:, My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me., Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me., Which could spell death for us all., Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait., My thoughts:, Can I just say wow! I have finally found my book! You know that book that ends up being your auto-recommend that you can’t stop taking about or that book that you feel like was written just for you to read because it is the book you have been searching for your entire life well, yeah that is Crave for me. It is going to be the book that any of my #bookstagram friends sees and thinks of me! I am a slow reader lets just get that out of the way, but when I sat down to read a few more chapters the other day I ended up not being able to put it down and read over 400 of the 571 pages in one night!, Tracy Wolff does the vampire comeback right! Who doesn’t love a boarding school in Alaska where all things that go bump in the night are hidden in plain sight. And what’s even better is the the ever so slightly oblivious (at first) niece of the headmaster. Grace knows something is up pretty much from her first day at the school, but is naive enough to chalk it up to aliens, at least until she has undeniable proof of either a really sick prank or another species entirely!, And can we just talk for a moment about my favorite side character Mekhi! First off I love that name and secondly I need more of him in book two! I am so glad that the release date for “Crush” has been moved up to September, I may have a countdown on my phone as I am eagerly awaiting to read more of Grace and Jaxon’s story and let’s be really I need more Mekhi too!, I’m also pretty sure that her favorite word is swoon, but this book is definitely swoon worthy! It hits all the feels perfectly. And from the bad dad jokes to quoting lines form one of my favorite movies and Grace and Macy watching one my my favorite TV shows there is all too much to love inside the adventure land that is Crave and Katmere Academy. I am pretty sure I could sit here and talk about Crave for hours upon hours it is just that freaking good! So what are you waiting for go a get your copy and read the book now., Memorable quotes:, “I want him to look at me like it physically hurts him not to be touching me.” -Macy, “They’re waiting for me to either sit down or leave, Grace. Once one of those things happens, they’ll come in.” -Jaxon, More, he makes me feel not so alone at a time when I’ve never been lonelier. -Grace, “I am freaking out! Jaxon’s freaking out. We’re all freaking out.” -Mekhi, “Believe me, I won’t.” Mekhi grins, “The last thing I’m interested in doing is getting in the middle of that argument. Besides, it might be time someone takes my boy down a peg or two.” -Mekhi, And just like that, my breath catches in my throat again. Because if I’ve learned nothing else in the time I’ve been here, it’s that Jaxon Vega kneels for no one. Yet here he is, kneeling in front of me like it’s the most natural thing in the world. -Grace

(An honest review with only a couple of small spoilers. If you can even call them that. ), “Crave”. If that isn’t exactly how I felt after finishing the first book? Idk what is., I started this read, as any Twilight fan would. Skeptical, AF., I’d be lying if I said I didn’t notice and point out every single thing that reminded me of Twilight. And don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some similarities in the beginning of this book. I mean, besides the cover, it starts off with a girl getting on an airplane and leaving behind everything she knows. (Okay, Bella.) And on her first day, she meets the mysterious, angsty teenage boy. (Hello, Edward.) She also meets this incredibly happy and bright, tan boy. Who, surprise surprise, Mr. Angsty wants Grace (or Bella) to have nothing to do with. (Nice to see you again, Jacob.) There’s even a moment, where instead of Bella being in a street and almost getting killed by a group of men right before Edward swoops in and “saves the day”, Grace is in the school, almost getting killed by a couple of boys, when Jaxon (Mr. Angsty), comes and “saves the day”., BUT THAT’S BESIDES THE POINT!!!!, This book, was SUCH an easy read. So easy, that even though I was quick to find every cheesy Twilight comparison in the world, I was still able to read it without getting bored., So easy in fact, that I didn’t even realize when I was half way through the book, that I was totally and completely enveloped into the story, I had forgotten all about Twilight., Sure, there are some similarities in the beginning of this book. But that’s where it ends!!! The beginning!! And I’m CONVINCED, Tracy added in those similarities just to pay tribute to Stephanie Meyers and her Twilight Saga because that’s where her inspiration came from., The series as a whole, in no way compares, to Twilight. It’s almost a different Genre, altogether., I finished this book, in less than a week. And then I bribed my best friend to go to Barnes and Noble for me, to immediately buy the second book because Amazon was sold out, and the stores near me were also sold out., I paid for an overpriced copy at Barnes and Noble (plus an extra $7 for my friends Starbucks bribery) because I couldn’t WAIT, to get my hands on the second book. And boy, was it worth every penny. There are four books in this series. It took me four weeks to read them all. That’s four weeks, I didn’t get any house work done, buy any groceries, watch any shows, and completely and totally, ignored and annoyed my wonderful husband. Truth be told, I was addicted. I was addicted after the first, cringey, page. And. I. CRAVED. It. All., Do yourself a favor, and read this book. Maybe I only loved it so much because it was a continuation of the cheesy romantic fantasy that I was craving. But whatever the case, I devoured it whole and I will certainly, be reading it again., P.s. I only give it 4 stars, because I noticed a couple of small typos, and I think it could have done without the twilight comparisons, and without the cheesy beginning where Jaxon licks Grace’s blood off his finger. It wasn’t sexy. It was cringey.

Ok, so if this book had been a standalone, or if I didn’t know what was coming in future books, it would have hands down been a 5 star read., Although some of the descriptions can be a tad wordy, the plot was wonderful and both main characters were interesting and easy to root for., SPOILERS AHEAD, In reading reviews of this book before actually committing to it, I came across some that revealed that Grace and Jaxon don’t actually end up together. She ends up with his brother Hudson. That is something I personally appreciate knowing ahead of time because I don’t want to get super invested in one character only to be terribly disappointed when it doesn’t work out., So while reading this book, I couldn’t y enjoy the goosebumps inducing romance between Jaxon and Grace because I didn’t want to let myself get too invested in Jaxon. I’m excited to finally see Hudson introduced in the next book, but book 1 was hard to read because Jaxon and Grace seem so perfect together., I’m hoping that Hudson is all he is cracked up to be, because right now I find it hard to see anyone topping Jaxon.

Safe for my 11 year old to read and talk about bring out the PLOT TWIST! Clean and funny, I really enjoyed it. I came out of the room hollering at my kids to sync their “Paperwhites” (Kindles) so they could each read this (16 yr old boy and 11 yr old girl) one into mythology and the other loves a good mystery. It hits both genres without missing a beat! Way to go
