Description
Courage, kindness, and adventure abounds in this charming, illustrated chapter book series about a mouse discovering the true meaning of home. When Mona the Mouse stumbles across the wondrous world of the Heartwood Hotel in the middle of a storm, she desperately hopes they’ll let her stay. As it turns out, Mona is precisely the maid they need at the grandest hotel in Fernwood Forest, where animals come from far and wide for safety, luxury, and comfort. But the Heartwood Hotel is not all acorn soufflés and soft moss-lined beds. Danger lurks, and as it approaches, Mona finds that this hotel is more than a warm place to spend the night. It might also be a home. These heartwarming stories will delight newly independent readers and send them scurrying for the second book in the series, The Greatest Gift .

This book is such a cute story! My 6yo loves animals so that made it even more enjoyable for him. The adventure and mystery kept him wanting one more chapter! I love the lessons of friendship, kindness, and not judging others based on appearances. Definitely recommend for early elementary students!

Such a sweet story. Subtle foreshadowing allows the kids to guess at connections between characters. A great embodiment of how one person full of love can transform and infect a whole community. We’ve already ordered the second one in the series because my kids were begging for it. Great read aloud for younger ages, but probably second or third grade level for independent reading.

I read this aloud with my almost 6 year old and she absolutely loved it. My 4 year old sat in at times and enjoyed the general world of the story but excused himself at the suspenseful parts. This was perfect for our first real chapter book read aloud!! We cannot wait for the next books in the series. And check out the adorable website- it has tons of fun role play Printable.
