Description
Don’t miss the USA Today bestseller and addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that’s burning up Instagram–Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity. “Welcome to the family,” Nina Winchester says as I shake her elegant, manicured hand. I smile politely, gazing around the marble hallway. Working here is my last chance to start fresh. I can pretend to be whoever I like. But I’ll soon learn that the Winchesters’ secrets are far more dangerous than my own… Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband. I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of…

I just loved it. I couldn’t put it down. I screamed with joy when Millie locked Andy in the attic. I was so proud that Nina did not let her take the blame that is the sign of a real woman. And now we know why he was like this, this is what his mother did to him so it was a learned punishment. This is a wonderful book, and I can’t wait to read the next issue and see what Millie will do to help this woman. She is such a rock. I turly hope that this is just a made up story, I would hate to think that someone lived this life, but I know that is is 99% positive that this is someone’s real life. What a relief the way things worked out.

Millie is desperate for a job. Recently out of prison she took on a job as a waitress from which she was fired. She is living in her car with no real hope for the future. Then she interviews for a housemaid job with Nina Winchester who lives in a gorgeous mansion with husband Andrew and daughter Cecelia., Despite her scruffy appearance and lack of a decent resume Nina hires her. Initially Nina seems nice but then a dark side comes to the fore. Nice one day, horribly mean the next. And daughter Cecilia is seemingly spoiled brat. Meanwhile, Andrew, who seems to stay in the background when at home is as sweet as he is handsome. Millie develops an infatuation for Andrew., Even though the house is quite palatial, Millie was consigned to a tiny room in the attic with a lumpy cot for a bed. Regardless of the meager accommodations and Nina’s mood changes it was way better than being unemployed and living in a car., Enzo, the Italian gardener for the Winchesters warned Millie of danger involved in working for Nina. But Millie figured she could handle the sparse accommodations, moody Nina and bratty Cecelia, and control her infatuation for Andrew for long enough to build up a bank and find her own apartment and a better job., But what was the danger that Enzo warned her of? Can Millie continue to handle Nina’s mood swings? Can she keep her hands off Andrew? As the story unfolds it starts to get creepy. Be prepared for some twists and unexpected turns. I give it a 4.5 rating.

I did not believe all the hype but I really enjoyed the other McFadden books I read so after seeing thousands of raves, I finally decided to go ahead and read it especially with the second book due to be released this month. Wow! It was even better than anticipated., Right from the beginning the tension started. And it rose exponentially. There weren’t a lot of characters but those ones feature seemed initially ch caricatures but boy were appearances deceiving. What can an ex-con with a resume and life story full of lies expect? So much more than they’d experienced over the past incarcerated 10 years. But secrets always get exposed when you least expect them to., I was really surprised by all the sarcastic humor that was laced throughout the book. I think it was necessary to break the unrelenting tension! You know when you’re yelling at your characters you are really invested in what’s happening. I was very tired but I had to know what happened next so I fought falling asleep and it was more than worth it., My fervent advice is to read this book! Don’t wait! If you enjoy psychological thrillers this one will blow your mind! If you are Freida Fanatic don’t hesitate any longer. Read this book now!, Even though I had read this amazing book on Kindle Unlimited I like to always support authors when possible so I made a point of purchasing it when it came on sale.
