Description

AN INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES AND #1 USA TODAY BESTSELLER In the follow-up to It Happened One Summer , Tessa Bailey delivers another deliciously fun rom-com about a former player who accidentally falls for his best friend while trying to help her land a different man… King crab fisherman Fox Thornton has a reputation as a sexy, carefree flirt. Everyone knows he’s a guaranteed good time—in bed and out—and that’s exactly how he prefers it. Until he meets Hannah Bellinger. She’s immune to his charm and looks, but she seems to enjoy his… personality? And wants to be friends ? Bizarre. But he likes her too much to risk a fling, so platonic pals it is. Now, Hannah’s in town for work, crashing in Fox’s spare bedroom. She knows he’s a notorious ladies’ man, but they’re definitely just friends . In fact, she’s nursing a hopeless crush on a colleague and Fox is just the person to help with her lackluster love life. Armed with a few tips from Westport’s resident Casanova, Hannah sets out to catch her coworker’s eye… yet the more time she spends with Fox, the more she wants him instead. As the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur, Hannah can’t deny she loves everything about Fox, but she refuses to be another notch on his bedpost. Living with his best friend should have been easy. Except now she’s walking around in a towel, sleeping right across the hall, and Fox is fantasizing about waking up next to her for the rest of his life and… and… man overboard! He’s fallen for her, hook, line, and sinker. Helping her flirt with another guy is pure torture, but maybe if Fox can tackle his inner demons and show Hannah he’s all in, she’ll choose him instead?

This was good, and cute, and funny, but I didn’t insanely over-the-top love it like I did with book 1. Brendan has my heart forever. Fox was adorably vulnerable with Hannah, but he did not win my heart like Brendan did. Also, personality wise, the way Hannah was portrayed in the book seemed like (in my head) Darcy from Thor, so even though she’s this adorable little blonde in the book, in my head she was an adorable little brunette with glasses and the snarkiest of snark. If they ever make these books into a movie/show, I think Kat Dennings would be the perfect Hannah.

What a heartwearmer! I love stories like this, without too must angst or pain – just a culmination of perfect interwoven moments that paint a beautiful, unique picture of what it feels like to fall in love. Fox and Hannah were wonderful to read – and I just adores Fox especially, even though Hannah was equally lovable! But Fox, with his tortured soul that he masks with humor, and his inability to see his worth, and the way Hannah stripped him of those insecurities bit by bit? So, so good! I really enjoyed both of the stories in this duology.

I loved this book! I don’t understand the mixed reviews for it. It’s common in stories for the readers to get to see why a female main character is the way she is and what her exact thoughts are, but we don’t usually get that for a male main character. We got to see that for the male main character in this book! If you’re looking for a well written story that keeps you hooked, you’ve found it!

This book did not disappoint! It’s an absolutely heart-warming love story. And the hero was dealing with an issue that I don’t usually read in a book. But that most of us have felt throughout life. I loved it.
