Having purchased 2 of these books, one here on Amazon and another at a store, I have encountered the 2 versions of the book. Amazon sent me the one with the brown crayon page as “sweet as chocolate” however I prefer the one with the wording “love sometimes stinks”. I would say that neither diminishes the purpose of the book, to describes what love is like but I personally like the love stinks version; it’s funny and the picture is more consistent with the other pictures which are crayon drawings. The “love is sweet” picture stands out because it’s not a “crayon” drawing, if that makes sense. We gifted a book to preschool teacher for teacher appreciation week and kept one for home.

is a potentially problematic phrase, but not if you address it as “when you have a tantrum/when you really make me angry, my love doesn’t go away,” so it doesn’t become an excuse for grown-ups abusing kids., Definitely wonderful. My brother didn’t like that page. I think it’s fine and can even be a good introduction to “but not abuse. Here’s how to identify that,” or “but we left (situation) because that’s a different kind, and you can always tell me when (action) happens, so we can address (issue).”, I had PPD due to spousal abuse and there were a few months of anxiety instead of just “Oh, recovery is here,” since I was also shunned for a year and a half after the birth of my second child by my mother. She wouldn’t take the kids ONCE, then became furious when my therapist said she needed to do it weekly., That led to an anxiety attack for months. Knowing one child is hated and lied to, and both should have been aborted, in her words. So, this book is a safe place for my kids to discuss/listen to necessary topics I didn’t know I could address until I read this book., Hang in there, to anyone who can relate.

I guess I now have to read the dimensions of books. As a long distance Grammie I do a lot of Amazon shopping for my granddaugther. This is the 3rd book of the series that I have ordered and I was very surprise and disappointed to see how small it is. My own fault I guess, after receiving it I did go back in to read the dimensions, it is stated and the price is less. It will be a nice size for her to take in the car. Just a heads up for anyone that may want it to fit with the others on the shelf.

We checked this book out at the library and my little boy thought that it was hilarious that “Love was brown because sometimes love stinks.” There was a picture of a brown bear who had pooped. Perfect joke for a toddler audience. The new copy we ordered from Amazon had a different brown page. “Love is brown because love is sweet like chocolate.” We were sad.

I got this book because a friend has the saying “I love you in all the colors” This is a great visual for the concept
